becky:dear listeners, good morning! welcome to listen to mood store, i am the host of this time. so, welcome to our radio, echo. it is a great honor to invite you to participate in this interview.

echo: thank you for your attention!

becky: the topic of this interview is "i and animals". so, would you like to share your story with the animals?

echo: yes, of course. my grandfather raised a little dog when i was a child. he's one of those medium-sized dogs with black and white coat. he is so clever that he can understand what we say. we all called he laifu which meant to peace and joy. at that time, i went to the boarding school in the county town, and i could only go home once a week. every time i come home from school, i haven't reached the door yet,he would run out of the house excitedly to greet me. not only that,he would also put his paws on me and stick out his tongue and wag his tail happily.

becky: oh, that sounds like a really cute puppy. you must have a good relationship with him.

echo: yes, i like him very much. he's not just a dog, he's more like my family. after grandpa died, we moved house, and grandma was reluctant to part with him, so she brought him to our new home. although he couldn't speak, i knew that he was also very sad when my grandfather died. when he first came to our new home, he had no vitality and often lay on the ground for a long time, looking at the distance. that's where grandpa was buried. i knew he was upset, so i tried to hold him. but he was too big for my arms to wrap around him. i patted him on the back clumsily and said softly to him, "grandpa is very happy in paradise and has been watching us all the time. we have to be happy all the time and wait for grandpa to come back!" i was six at the time. i didn't know that grandpa had left me forever. all i knew was that grandpa has gone far, far away, and it would be a long time before he came back. he understood my words, and every day he was no longer listless, and he regained his former liveliness. at that time, my parents were not at home, and my grandmother took care of me alone. she often did farm work until dark, and i sat at the door of my house after school, waiting for my grandmother to come home. every time he always rushes in front of grandma, when i see him, i know grandma is back.

becky: he does sound like a sensible puppy. as far as i know, the dog's life span can reach fifteen years. how is him now?

echo: as you can imagine, he passed away. three years after grandpa's death, he also died.

becky: i'm very sorry to bring up your sadness.

echo: it doesn't matter. i think when grandpa died, he already wanted to leave. he left peacefully. that day was the same as usual. i went to call him for dinner, but he never answered. grandma said that he was old and it's time for him to die. i was nine years old that year, and i was no longer that ignorant child. i knew that death meant parting and never seeing each other again. "they'll be happy in another place, won't they?" with red eyes, i buried him with my grandmother next to my grandfather's grave hoping to make it easier for him to find to way to my grandfather.

becky: it's really a touching story. did you try to have any other pets later?

echo: not at all. grandpa and laifu's departure was a big blow to me when i was young. i'm afraid of parting. as the saying goes, “you refuse to plant flowers because you don't want to see them fall. yes, you refused to start in order to avoid a bad result.”

becky: that's really a pity. sometimes, what you say is not unreasonable, but i think, if you don't try, you will never know what will happen. of course, this is not to say that you should get a cat or a dog, maybe we can change our way of thinking, for example, to get another animal which live longer than humans.

echo:you do seem to have a point. maybe i can try to raise a turtle?

becky: haha. you are very humorous. why not try it?then you can get a long company. anyway, whatever decision you make is a sign of love for animals, and we should treat them well.

echo: that's true. although i don't have any more cats and dogs, i often go to the animal rescue station and bring some food and toys to the animals.

becky: yeah . it is our duty to care for small animals, and every little life deserves to be cared for. thank you very much for sharing. this is the whole content of this program. get more information. you can enter the mood store. see you tomorrow at the same time!
