becky: good morning, listeners! you’re listening to mood store, your go-to radio show for all things travel. i’m your host, becky , and with me today is our travel expert, sarah miller. say hi, sarah.

s: hello, becky, and hello to everyone tuning in today.

becky: today, we’ll be discussing some exciting travel destinations and tips for our listeners. sarah, what’s the first destination on your list?

s: well, becky, i think our listeners would love to hear about the beautiful city of paris. it’s known as the city of love, and for good reason. the eiffel tower, the louvre museum, and the charming streets of montmartre are must-see attractions.

becky: that sounds amazing! any tips for our listeners who plan to visit paris?

s: definitely! first, make sure to try some authentic french cuisine. the cafes and bakeries in paris are known for their delicious pastries and croissants. also, don’t forget to take a boat ride along the seine river for stunning views of the city.

becky: great tips, sarah! now, let’s move on to another popular destination. how about new york city?

s: ah, the big apple! new york city is a melting pot of cultures and offers endless experiences. times square, central park, and the statue of liberty are must-visit landmarks. and don’t forget to catch a broadway show while you’re there!

becky: new york city can be quite expensive. any budget-friendly tips for our listeners?

s: absolutely! consider visiting some of the city’s free attractions, like the high line and staten island ferry. and instead of dining in fancy restaurants, explore the various food trucks and street vendors for affordable and delicious meals.

becky: that’s a great way to save money while still enjoying the city. alright, let’s move on to our next destination for today – tokyo, japan.

s: tokyo is a city like no other, becky. from ancient temples to futuristic skyscrapers, it offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. the vibrant neighborhoods of shibuya and shinjuku are must-visit spots for entertainment and shopping.

becky: japan can be quite daunting for first-time visitors. any tips for navigating the city?

s: planning ahead is key. make sure to familiarize yourself with the subway system and invest in a rail pass for unlimited travel within the country. also, don’t be afraid to try some traditional japanese street food – it’s delicious!

becky: have you ever been to germany? can you tell us about germany

s:my trip to germany was truly unforgettable. i spent a month traveling across the country, starting in the picturesque bavarian region.

becky: that sounds fantastic! tell us about your time in bavaria.

s:bavaria is a beautiful region with stunning landscapes and charming towns. i started in munich, where i had the chance to visit iconic attractions like the nymphenburg palace and the marienplatz. i couldn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a traditional bavarian beer garden experience, sipping on a cold brew and indulging in some delicious pretzels.

becky: that sounds delightful! did you explore any other cities in bavaria?

s:absolutely! i ventured to nuremberg, a city known for its rich history and medieval architecture. the nuremberg castle and the old town square were highlights of my visit. i also took a day trip to the fairytale-like town of rothenburg ob der tauber, where i wandered the cobblestone streets and admired the well-preserved medieval walls.

becky: bavaria seems like a dream destination for history and architecture lovers. where else did your journey take you in germany?

s:,from bavaria, i made my way to the vibrant capital city, berlin. this city is a melting pot of cultures and is known for its diverse art scene. i visited the east side gallery, a section of the berlin wall covered in colorful murals. the museum island, with its collection of world-class museums, was another highlight for me.

becky: berlin is truly a fascinating city with its rich history and modern vibe. did you have time to explore other regions in germany?

s:,yes, indeed! i traveled to the rhineland-palatinate region, where the charming town of heidelberg captured my heart. the heidelberg castle, with its stunning views of the neckar river, was definitely worth the climb. the nearby town of mainz, with its roman heritage and gorgeous cathedral, was also a must-visit.

becky:,it sounds like you had a well-rounded experience exploring different parts of germany. any specific recommendations for our listeners?

s:absolutely! germany is known for its love of outdoor activities, so i highly recommend exploring the black forest region. hiking through the dense forests, visiting picturesque villages like triberg, and indulging in some black forest cake are a must. additionally, don’t miss experiencing the magical christmas markets during the holiday season, especially in cities like dresden and munich.

becky:those are excellent recommendations, michael! it sounds like you had an incredible journey through germany. any final thoughts?

s:germany is a country that offers a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. take your time to immerse yourself in the local traditions, try the delicious cuisine, and interact with the friendly locals.

becky: so, of all the places you've traveled, what impressed you the most?

s: i’ve been fortunate enough to visit many cities in china, but some of my favourites are beijing, shanghai, guangzhou, and guilin. each city has its unique culture, history, and natural beauty.

becky: that sounds wonderful. what have been some of your favourite experiences or activities in these cities?

s: in beijing, i loved visiting the forbidden city and beijing’s many ancient temples. the great wall also remains one of my most unforgettable experiences. in shanghai, strolling along the bund and discovering the city’s modern architecture was a fantastic experience. meanwhile, guangzhou’s canton tower offers incredible skyline views of the city. guilin, on the other hand, has breathtaking natural scenery such as the karst peaks and the li river.

becky: those are all amazing experiences! do you have any advice for our listeners about traveling in china?

s: sure! firstly, i would recommend trying the local cuisine; china has a richhistory of food and has a lot to offer foodies. secondly, try to learn a few useful chinese phrases. it will help you to communicate with locals and show that you appreciate their culture. finally, be prepared for the crowds that come with traveling during peak seasons and the times of traditional festivals. but don’t let it discourage you because china is an incredible country with a diverse culture.

becky: those are all insightful pieces of advice. can you tell us more about the cultural differences you have noticed in china while traveling?

s: of course! one of the most significant cultural differences involves how chinese people use social media. it was a surprise to discover that chinese social media platforms, such as wechat and weibo, were much more prevalent than those we use in the western world. it is fascinating that they use social media for everything, from ordering food to booking hotels. another important aspect of chinese culture is how the people value family and relationships. chinese people often invite their friends and family over for dinner, and it is a great way to experience the country’s hospitality.

becky:that’s very interesting to know. lastly, what is your favorite destination in china, and why?

s: it’s difficult to pick just one place, but i think guilin would be my favorite destination. its natural beauty is incomparable, and it’s an ideal place to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. in a word, it’s just stunning.

becky: thank you so much, sarah, for sharing these incredible destinations and tips with us today. unfortunately, that’s all the time we have for now. stay tuned for more travel talks in the future. bye, everyone!

s: goodbye and happy travels, everyone!
